Temporary addendum to our Constitution

2nd December 2020

As we work with National CPRE to evolve our local group, including bringing on board new volunteers and trustees, we’ve made a temporary addendum to the Constitution to suspend the tenure time limits for our Executive Committee.

Currently, in 2020, some members of the Executive Committee have served longer than is currently permitted by our Constitution. The Committee is aware of this and actively taking steps to rectify it. We are engaged with National Office in an East Midlands Regional Project to: increase local awareness of CPRE Derbyshire; and recruit more active volunteers and Executive Committee members.

We are also continuing to be active ourselves at a local level. The aim is that two new Executive Committee members would be added each year in 2021, 2022 and 2023. A new Chair would be appointed by the end of this process. At the same time, some of the existing members would stand down from their official role on the Executive Committee, but they could continue to volunteer.

To provide continuity to the process, the existing time limits on Committee membership should be suspended during this process. We expect two existing members to stand down in each of the years 2021, 2022 and 2023, to be replaced by newly recruited Committee members.
