East Midlands Strategic Action Plan

15th November 2020

Lockdown has seen us move our regular committee meetings online. But we’re still busily planning for the future.

CPRE nationally is conscious some regional groups find it increasingly challenging to attract new participants to enable them to fulfil the local role expected of them.

In our region, this applies especially to Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire, so a draft action plan has been devised in collaboration with National CPRE to assist these groups.

In it, the following priorities are identified to secure the future of CPRE at county level:

  • Raise the profile of CPRE and what we care about
  • Engage communities with CPRE and show our support for the issues they care about
  • Attract and support members, donors and volunteers
  • Increase income from supporters or other funding sources.

These four areas of work need to happen in a more or less chronological order.

A two-year rolling program is envisaged, concentrating on the first two areas in Year 1, aiming to consolidate in Year 2 around the third and fourth areas.

This will require the appointment of two roles:

  • a digital engagement officer, working on social media and publicity and;
  • a community & volunteer engagement officer to reach out to other relevant action groups.

It is not expected that the posts would be in operation until early next year, as the finer details still need to be worked through and the whole advertising and recruitment process has to be completed.

Whilst we know results won’t be instant, we are hoping that this project will inject new energy and thinking into our group. We will keep you informed of our progress.
