The Hedgerow Heroes project, which also supports CPRE’s national hedgerow campaign, is helping to restore hedgerow up and down the country. Here’s an overview of local sites in Derbyshire.

Whistlewood Common

(Melbourne)

In early November we laid over 40 metres of hedge with the help of around 20 volunteers, led by our delivery partner The Conservation Volunteers (TCV). Find out more about Whistlewood in this post.

Williamthorpe Local Nature Reserve

(nr Heath)

This December we’ll be planting and laying hedgerows in 12 sessions at Williamthorpe, led by our delivery partner Groundwork. Find out more about Williamthorpe in this post. Contact Marion at Groundwork to get involved – 07801122494 / marion.farrell@groundworknottingham.org.uk

Hooks Farm Dairy

(Borrowash)

On December 20th and 21st we’ll be working at Hooks Farm to restore hedgerow, led by our delivery partner The Conservation Volunteers (TCV). Contact Lorraine at CPRE for more info – LorraineR@cpre.org.uk

Local CPRE groups in each area will be directly engaging with communities and volunteers to ensure their involvement with these practical conservation projects in their local green spaces. We’re proud to be contributing toward increasing our hedgerow network by 40% by 2050, as recommended by the Climate Change Committee to help achieve carbon net zero.
