National CPRE recently published comment on the government’s response to the Glover Review, which concerns national parks and designated ‘Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty’ (AONBs). Here’s our comment…

The article can be viewed here.

John Ydlibi, Chair of CPRE Derbyshire said “The government’s response to the Glover Review on the protection of England’s 10 National Parks (including the Peak District in Derbyshire) and the 34 specific Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) was rather disappointing, and did not really enforce additional protection against unplanned and badly planned developments that a number of bodies including CPRE requested. The only real positive news from the reviews was the extension of the boundaries of 2 AONBs and the recommendation of 2 new AONBs in Cheshire Sandstone Ridge and the Yorkshire Wolds. This will help the government towards meeting its commitment of protecting 30% of our land by 2030 and boosting bio-diversity.”
